ABOUT ME
Passionate. Patient. Persistent. Animal-lover. These are just a few of the characteristics that describe Lauren. With a lifetime experience riding and working horses Lauren received a certification in 2014 to teach lessons through CHA, she was teaching girl scouts and was supervising local summer riding camps. Throughout the years her learning experience grew more than ever imagined. Lauren decided to become an Equine Dental Technician after she noticed many horse owners struggling with their horse's weight and attitude adjustments, and many dental procedures done incorrectly. She decided to do something about it so she attended and graduated from Midwest Equine Dental Academy in 2018
I know each horse is different, and I’ll work with you to give them the specific care they need. Whether you own young, old, small or large, athletic or pleasure, I will work diligently with each individual. I am here to help.
DENTAL PROCEDURE

Have you checked your horse's teeth and mouth lately?
As an EqDT Spring Equine Dentistry uses manual instruments to address your horses's floating procedure now known as a point reduction without power tools or sedatives. We all began to learn what a float was but it's not just reduction of sharp buccal; cheek teeth and lingual; tongue teeth points anymore. No two horses mouths are identical. The most common malocclusions are wave mouth, overbite and step mouth. With the incisors this includes an offset or diagonal, ventral curvature and dorsal curvature. Within the mouth you may also notice ramps and hooks forming which can cause discomfort and chewing problems that limit grind. Sedation is occasionally used to adequately approach a problem within the horse's mouth but isn't always necessary. Spring Equine Dentistry will work closely with your veterinarian if you choose to use a sedative or I highly recommend dormosedan gel for the procedure and safety concerns. Sessions can be done in the comfort of your own barn, backyard or boarding facility, with personalized plans to fit your horse’s needs and your lifestyle.

POINT REDUCTION

Comfortable and Professional
Point reduction is a routine dental procedure that smooths your horse's sharp buccal and lingual points within the arcade in your horse's mouth with a manual rasp to make them more comfortable and improving occlusion. Depending on age and workload they may need to be done anywhere from once a year to multiple times a year. I work closely with each one of my clients and their horses to implement my proven problem solving process. I know you have a busy schedule, so I will customize a plan that suits your style of living.
